Monkey bread is a loaf consisting of individual balls. The base is usually yeast dough, and each element is richly oiled before baking. Baking is usually served with coffee and can be not only sweet, but also supplemented with herbs, garlic, cheese.

Such bread appeared in the middle of the last century, and there are various rumors about its name. Some believe that it is called a monkey because of its similarity to the fruits of baobab, which these animals eat. Others believe that baking is usually consumed with hands, tearing it off from the general mass, and this resembles the habits of monkeys.

How to cook?

How to cook monkey bread? One of the many options involves the use of the following products:

  • 300 g of flour;
  • 200 ml of warm water;
  • st. l. Sahara;
  • hl salts;
  • 1.5 tsp. dry fast yeast;
  • 80 g butter;
  • two garlic cloves;
  • 100 g of hard cheese.

Cooking:

  1. Make a brew: dissolve the yeast in a little water, add a little sugar, leave the mixture for half an hour.
  2. Mix the flour with the remaining sugar, water, brew, half a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of butter. Knead the dough, leave for an hour, beat and divide into small pieces, forming balls.
  3. For the filling, chop the garlic, rub the cheese, melt the butter (enter the rest of the salt in it).
  4. Take a round shape with a center, put a layer of balls into it, soak them with oil, sprinkle with garlic and cheese. Form the bread layers. Leave the container in a warm place for half an hour. Then bake bread until golden brown at 170 degrees. So that the cheese does not burn, the surface can be covered with foil.
