How to transfer the game?

Many avid gamers know very well how to transfer a game from one computer to another using a disk. But those who need to do this for the first time are often mistaken, considering its label - the game itself. In order not to make such an annoying mistake, you must first look at the properties of the file. You can do this in the following way: select the file you want to transfer and click on it with the right mouse button, in the appeared context menu select the “Properties” item. If in the pop-up window you see what is written “Shortcut for ...” and the path to the file is indicated, then before you is not a game, but just a shortcut - a link to it.

In general, it is worth separating two categories of games: installable and portable. In the first case, the game must be installed from the CD, in the second, it can be simply copied from the disk and it will be ready to work.

The difference between portable and installed game

If the game came to you on a disk or flash drive without an installer and you can play it without having to install it, then it is portable.

If the game requires installation when inserting a disk into a computer, then it must be installed. Try installing the game on your computer first, then copy the game installation folder to any other location and delete the game. Now try launching the main executable file of the game (usually with the .exe extension) if the game works, then it is also portable, if not, then it requires mandatory installation.

How to transfer a portable game on the disk

This question is solved quite easily. Simply insert a blank disc into the computer's drive, drag the folder with the game to the icon of this disc in the “My Computer” section. After that, follow the instructions of the Disc Recording Wizard. Done! Now you can safely transfer the game to a friend.

Transferring the installed game to disk

If you are interested in how to transfer a game that requires installation, then the easiest way is to clone the installation disk. To do this, you need a program like Alcohol 120%. It allows you to create a completely identical copy of the source disk. How to clone a game disc:

  1. Install Alcohol 120% and open it.
  2. Insert the game disc into the drive and click on the “Clone disc” item in the program in the left pane.
  3. After the special dialog box appears and open the drive, insert a blank disc for recording and click “OK”
  4. Done! The game will now be installed from this disk, as from the original.
