How to put leeches?

So, after you bought leeches at the pharmacy, they should be placed in a jar with tap water and the mouth of the jar covered with gauze. They need to be stored in a bright place, at 10-15 degrees, and the water must be changed daily. Before you put leeches, it should be noted that only hungry and healthy leeches that move quickly in water will be suitable for treatment. If the leech is sluggish, with knots or sticky surface - it is not suitable for treatment.

How to put a leech

Before putting the leech, you should treat the skin at the place of setting with alcohol, and then moisten the towel in warm boiled water and wipe dry. In order for the leech to adhere better to the skin, it can be moistened with a solution of sugar water or goliuza.

Take the leech with your fingers or tweezers in the head area and stick to the skin. Wait until it clings. After the wave-like movements appear in the front part of the leech (this indicates that the leech has adhered), it can be released. Similarly, should be put and other leeches.

If the medicinal leech disappears, this indicates its unsuitability and must be replaced with another. The leech itself lasts from 30 to 60 minutes. If you need to remove the leech earlier, just wet the area of the front sucker of the leech with salt water. Usually, after the leeches suck blood, they disappear themselves. After that, the leech is placed in a formalin solution or saline, where it will die. And only after that, it is drained into the sewer.

After all leeches disappear, sterile dressings should be applied to the wounds. If the bleeding is prolonged, a tight pressure bandage should be applied. After the bleeding stops, the skin around the wound is treated with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, iodine solution or alcohol tincture and apply a sterile dressing again. Usually after 2-3 days the wounds heal.

Contraindications to the use of leeches

If you have diseases that are accompanied by increased bleeding, anemia, sudden exhaustion, or decreased blood clotting, the use of leeches is contraindicated to you.
