How to make polyurethane foam insulation
Apply for insulation polyurethane foam in private buildings have become not so long ago. The material has a lot of good performance - it has low thermal conductivity, excellent adhesion to the surface, and filling of cracks regardless of their size, as well as mobility - in its original form, polyurethane foam is foam. When transporting it takes up very little space, which reduces shipping costs.
Polyurethane foam, or PPU, is applied to the surface by spraying. This technology allows you to create a solid layer of insulation without a single seam, which is tightly closed with the wall or other surfaces prepared for insulation. No need to mess with the installation, as happens when choosing plates, you do not need any measurements or cutting.
The technology of the process consists in that two components are supplied in a strictly defined proportion to a high-pressure sprayer.Under the influence of compressed air, they are mixed and in the form of an aerosol are released to the surface. The mixture is applied in a thin layer, not foaming. After a second or two after applying a chemical reaction begins, due to which there is a significant increase in the foam layer. After some time, the foam begins to harden, and a continuous layer of insulation is formed on the surface.
Mixtures of polyurethane foam can have different densities - choose the desired composition should be, depending on what kind of surface to be insulated. For example, a material with a density of 40-50 kg / m3 is used for insulating ceilings and walls.
But this material has a significant disadvantage - for its deposition, you will need to purchase equipment that is expensive. You can also rent it or invite specialists to do the work.
